"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit."

Brief History of YBBA

The Yimkhiung land is situated in the north-eastern part of Nagaland. The inhabited area runs along the eastern foothills of Saramati Mountain. The Langa River runs through the heart of the region. It is inhabited by more than 88 villages with a population of approximately 1.15 lakh.

According to oral tradition, the Yimkhiung tribe migrated from China, Thailand, Burma, and finally settled at Murü. The term Yimkhiung: 'Yim' stands for "searched" and 'Khiung' means "reached" — meaning "people who have searched and reached their permanent home."

Christianity came to the area from two directions. The first group penetrated through Huker village, establishing the first church by evangelist Lhovikhu on 15th March 1947. From these early roots, the light of the Gospel spread rapidly across the region, laying the foundation for what would eventually grow into the vibrant network of 107 churches that form the YBBA today.
